Fabia 1.4 16V: where is the coolant temp sensor?

Featured Replies

Hi!

I need to replace the coolant temp sensor on my Fabia 1.4 16V, but I don't know where it is. The technical guide on this forum only explains it for the 1.4 MPi engine. Can anyone help?

Also, I'm confused about the part no of the coolant temp sensor itself. Some posts report it to be 06A919501A, some others 059919501A. What's the right one for my car?

Thank you very much for your patience and your help!

i need to knowthis anyone got a guide for this?

lex, the sensor is on the front RHS of the engine as you look at it just behind the EGR valve, it's usually blue in colour and is fitted into the plastic thermostat housing.

There is also a temp sensor on the radiator! Open the bonnet and look down the rad on the passenger side......near the bottom of the passenger side mounted directly to the rad is the temp sensor....better to it from below......bit of a pig to replace due to draining the coolant system down and all the wires in the way!! B)

well i gota replace it somehow haha

In fact, since you're going to all the trouble of draining the coolant you should replace EVERYTHING; expansion tank, hoses, water pump, heater matrix, radiator, and of course, not forgetting the electric fan sensor.

Oh, wait a sec........

Edit: You could just replace the ECU coolant temperature sensor of course since these are known to degrade significantly over time.

Bump!

Can anyone elaborate on Fabdavrav's post above? My engine wont start when hot but is fine when cold. Ive replaced the temp sensor where the rad hose joins the engine block but is there a second one??

Anyone got a photo or a diagram or a how to?? Or any idea what im lookong for??

Thanks so much!

Ps. 2000 (x reg) fabia elegance 1.4 16v (AUB I think but could be wrong)

There is a sensor on the rad but it's only for the fans, you've already replaced the only sensor that matters. Did you reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery after replacing the sensor?

No I didnt disconnect the battery, didnt know that was necessary. Will do it now. Thanks!
