Name's Norman, and I'm new here. I've browsed the forum, and gleaned a lot of useful infp. A new Skoda Octavia owner. I used to have a Land Rover Freelander 2.5 V6 Auto, which was about as reliable as a decayed tooth. Being partly retired (in sunny Spain) I need to watch the pennies a bit, and when I looked at what the beast was costing me, I nearly had a fit.

Suffice it to say that in September I sold it, and bought an Octavia - after a lot of heart searching. After all who wants to walk around twirling a bunch of Skoda keys....... bad for the old image, don't you know? So I bought a Porsche key ring.

All joking aside though, the Octavia has been great. I'm saving 300 Euros a month on running costs, and not a hint of a problem. Just this minute returned from a 3 day trip around the mountain ranges south of Granada, several passes well over 1000 metres with 4 on board and never paused to draw breath.

Thanks to all of you to share your expertise here - I'm sure I shall benefit from it.
