Fabia 1.9TDi engine noise

Featured Replies

Hey guys my Roomster 1.9tdi is rather noisy at 70mph+ comparred to my Fabia VRS, okay the six speed box (lower rpm) and better aerodynamics probably had a lot to do with it but I just want to know what the new Fabia's are like at speed?, specifically the 1.9tdi's.........

Just want to know if this is a Roomster thang....... I have fitted the engine sound proofing but the noise reduction was marginal.

Cheers

hey des

i have just test driven a 1.9tdi fabia sport, and as soon as I returned from the test - i ordered one. The diesel in the new fabia is fantastically refined for a tdi and quiet when warmed up. The only time that one may consider it noisy is on tickover and when the engine is still quite cool. Performance is great especially as this car had only done 200 miles and was nowhere near to getting run in. Overall great car, great engine, can't wait for mine to arrive!!

Hmmmmmmmmmm, so it must be a Roomster thang then..

I'm looking at more extensive sound proofing as a solution to my problem.

Cheers

I don't think there are any differences in the sound proofing between the engine and passenger compartment in the Roomster and the new Fabia. I find my car quite noisy compared to an Octavia with the same engine (1,9 TDI) but it is in no way unbearable.. The sound deadening on the inside of the firewall is quite thick and extensive (I know, as I've now stripped my car because of a leaky sunroof... : ( I would live with the engine noise if I was you..

Turn the stereo up :)

I'm afraid the noise is too much. In order to have a conversation you really do have to speak up. I'm irratated so much that I'm considering another car, harsh I know but I may be taking a job which doubles my journey 60 miles of which is motorway.

it is a bit noisier in my roo, vs the fabia i had for a while. but its not something that really bothered me. i think its marginal the difference if im honest. the most wind noise seems generated by the wing mirrors

Hi guys I had a Rover 75 which was whisper quiet on motorway (2.0 cdt diesel) It was so quiet you were insulated totally from the outside world. Guess what, I didnt like that quiet floating feeling at all. Let me hear some engine and road noise anytime, then you really feel to be a part of your motor.
