Help with Coming-home function

Featured Replies

I've enabled Coming-Home and Leaving Home lights through VAG-COM, and they work great. Only thing I'm not sure if they work like they should.

They should only come on if it's dark enough, but what I've tested, they come on always.

I read somewhere that you should change in central electronics, this one to potentiometer setting to actually get it to notice the variances in outside brightness, right? I think in my case it's currently in Adaptation setting.Byte 02 Bit 4Coming-Home via(1 = Potentiometer / 0 = Adaptation)

I do have the auto-dimming rearview mirror and rain sensor. But do I need the light assist switch also for this setting to work?

Thanks.

Does your car have the rain/light sensor? If you have it coming/leaving home should come on depending on the ambient light - obviously if you don't have the sensor the car can't determine if there is light or darkness out there. ;)

Yes, I have rain/light sensor on my car. I'm just wondering what the 0 = adaptation / 1 = potentiometer setting actually means.

It's pretty dark all the time here in Finland right now, so I cannot be entirely sure if the sensor is just being too damn sensitive :)

In the latest version "Adaptation " says "personalisation" instead and means the setting in the cluster and the adaptation channel while "potentiometer" means indeed "by rain/light sensor". If it's that dark outside I could easily believe that this is the reason for your "issue".

Ok, so let's see if I got this right. When it's on adaptation, the lights on/ lights off function depends on what you set it at, and when it's on potentiometer, it all depends what brightness the rain/light sensor "sees"?

So which one is correct if I want the lights to work depending on how bright it's outside? It seems like the potentiometer setting should be my choice then, am I correct?

Correct, that is my/our understanding of this function. :)

Ok, thank you Theresias once again. I'll change the setting to potentiometer, currently it's on adaptation.

In Vag-Com -> Central electronics -> Coding -> Long coding helper and from there tick both Coming home and Leaving home. Press "transfer coding", and in coding windows press "do it". That's it.

Remember if you don't have light assist, coming home lights only work when you're light switch is on daylight driving position, but that's not a problem because you can leave it there permanently, it doesn't give the buzz beep sound when car engine off and you open the drivers door. Leaving home works no matter where you set your light switch to.

Thanks for the help, I will try it!
