Annoying wipers when screenwashing!

Featured Replies

Why do the front screen wipers move after 3 or 4 seconds again after you have screenwashed!? this only causes the screen to smear. Very annoying.

I believe this could be turned off with a VAG-COM coding change. Anyone care to confirm for the Octy2?

Steve

I understood it was to clear any runs from the initial screenwashing.

During summer it usually works ok. But now in winter, when the roads are salted, it usually just smears the windscreen. That was really annoying, and was the main reason I turned it off on my car.

It's not too much hassle to do the additional wipe manually if there's a need for it :)

I turned it off in my fabia. It's useless on the motorway IMO.

Totally agree. Any ideas if this can be turned off via the maxidot display?

Not possible I think, just either through dealer diagnostic or Vag-Com. On newer cars from MY2007 and onwards, it should be off from the factory.

Thats a shame. I guess a dealer would charge a labour fee?

Probably yes, but there might be someone here, who's near you and has Vag-Com.

Sounds about right, my MY08 doesn't have the additional wipe

My MY2007 doesn't have the additional wipe either.
