Picking up my 1.9TDi - what oil/etc will I need?

Featured Replies

Right, back from my original post I've gone and bought a different version of the same thing: a 40k mile 02 Fabia 1.9 TDi Elegance hatchback which I will be collecting this coming Saturday.

I'd like to go armed with one or two things and need to know specifics of that it'll need.

1st: Engine oil. I'm hearing lots of good things about Millers. XFE-PD 5w/40 is this the correct one? I also see a Halfords equivalent slightly more expensive but is there much difference? Or do I have the wrong type of oil completely..?

2nd: Fuel additives. Again Millers being talked about, their Power Sport 4. I take it this should improve performance/MPG and reduce noise/smokiness?

Anything else I should be looking to get? Spare bulbs set or something?

Cheers!

both Millers products you mentioned are suitable for your car, although Skoda advise against any additives to be used in the diesel, but there are people on here that have been using the stuff for years without ill effect

Do you know if there are technical differences between the Millers and Halfords oils worth noting?

sorry , no idea , and never used either oil myself , i get oil from work which is for the PD engine in the Ford Galaxy , SD 5w40 , never had any problems with it

I know the Millers Oils are highly respected in the boating world - I'd use the Millers before anything Halfords sell. I've been using the Millers Sport 4 on my 130 PD for a while now and find it runs smoother and cleaner. Also get the cage mod done as soon as!

Cheers.
