Duncan,

Brilliant time, pics still to come. Tyres Hmmmmm.

Arrived Friday PM brilliant sunshine, but a little cold. First thing was to loose all the luggage at the B&B, then off to the track just as it was opening. At this point I will explain that I took my parents along for the ride and their first experience of the ring atmosphere.

Friday PM:

Completely deserted track, according to the guys in the office it was because it was to cold. I virtually had the track to myself, there was my RS about 4 bikes and 4 cars and thats it all afternoon as you will see when I put the pics online. Took the old folks out for what turned out to be a sub 10 min lap, and they vowed never again as they both headed for the loo.

Evening meal we had at the completely deserted Motorsport Hotel/Resturant.

Saturday:

Track was closed allday as they had a racing event going on, so after doing some shopping in a nearby city in the morning set about spectating from pflatzgarten and brunchen for the afternoon. The old folks slowly getting drawn in to the spirit.

Evening meal we had at the equally empty Pistenklaus.

Sunday:

Arrived just as the track was opening and did a slow lap to survey things as there had been a frost overnight. A few places looked a bit dodgey, so I left if for a bit and didnt venture out till later. By then the place was much busier as the weather slowly got very warm. I even managed to get sunburnt (In March)

did a lot of laps as the track improved and my parents battled with the camera to get some pics of the RS on track. 1 and 1/2 tanks of fuel later called it a day.

Then went off to spectate around hatzenbach where we say a 5 series estate have a lucky escape as it narrowly avoided the armco in a spin. Temp was unusually high for march at 19c.

Had evening meal at the fushrorhre (Spelling) run by Sabine who drives the ring taxi, and my dad had a chat with her about all her trophies and other bits in the resturant. She had nothing else to do because we were her only customers.

So 4 days of brilliant sunshine, b***dy cold in the evenings/overnight and sunburnt. Brill weekend, Jon wish you where there?. Pics to follow.

Memo to self - need to get tyres.

Sounds marvellous!

I've heard that a Taxi in the hands of Sabine is the fastest thing around the ring these days!

I suppose she gets a lot of practice!

Just booked my ferry and accommodation to go in August, a few of the cupra.net guys are going as are some of the club gti lot. Looking forward to it, not sure whether I can wait that long though.

Anybody out there in August 8th-11th when we're going!

Manny, did I mention that I hate you? ;)

Glad you had a good time! I'm booked on the tunnel on the 16th April, coming back 27th so may possibly do a few laps whilst there!

August, Kev, probably, if not it'll be a week or so later as the openning times are better.

:D

PS Those taxis ain't that quick! :D :D

Oh and I'd like to order some rain for when I go, if thats alright!
