Great name

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Found this site when after starting the car for work, saw lovely clouds of smoke following me.. so came home (great reason to skive off work)

Decided to do a search online for the problem, Absolutely know nothing about cars, my car or anyones car, except how to drive it :)

Thought what a fab name for a site, brisk.. certainly do drive my poor old baby briskly... could be why shes complaining

Look forward to the learning curve Im sure i'll find on here.

Hi and welcome

Yes a very friendly site

You will be an expert before you know it

Have a look in the Felicia section and you may find out what the problem is

Good luck in your mechanic search

Sarah

Hi and welcome!

As Sarah said, try the Felicia section!

Could be a lot of things - from harmless CO2 condensed in your exhaust to a blown head gasket. Or, if you have a 1.9 diesel, there are other possibilities. Black smoke or white? Gone after engine's warmed up or with you all the time?

Learning curve - you'll find it! And a bit of fun too (check the Members section).

Welcome to the site,

Was it white smoke (steam) or blue smoke?

White (more than the normal amount you get on startup) normally means its a blown head gasket.

Blue means its burning oil badly, this could be worn or broken piston rings, or just worn valve stem seals.

Either way if you really know nothing about cars, then you need it looking at by a decent independent (not main dealer) mechanic to diagnose and fix the problem.

Hiya.

Wherever you post it, we'll need more than just "clouds of smoke". As Gizmo says, colour, and also whether the car's petrol or diesel.

Welcome from another Burtonian.

What sort of Skoda is it?

Hello and welcome. Hope you can find your answers soon.

Welcome :)
