Clutch slip at 31k....

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I bought my Fabia vRS from a dealer at 11.7k miles.....it had been mapped/chipped previously and to this day I dont know how much power it has.

I initially thought that there must be a spike in the map that had been done, but a few weeks on and its definitely clutch slip.

Ive had a search around and there are some very good questions asked. I now face one of three options:

-Buy a new standard clutch (priced at 180 plus 200 for fitting)

-Buy a new uprated clutch (looking at around 5-600)

- Keep driving with clutch slip to avoid buying a new one.

If I dont buy a new clutch, how many miles will I eget out of this one - would youi recommend just going for it, and if so....which one-standard or uprated?

Thanks for your replies.

Danny

Dont get a standard one when you need it as it will just do it again. It wont last long dude. I'd replace it now before it naffs up the DMF too.

If you want it to sound the same clutch wise get the sachs upratd clutch which uses the standard DMF

If you want even more performance and security out of an uprated clucth and dont mind a slight chatter at idle get a Helix clucth which uses a uprated SMF which produces chatter at idle. This clutch is rated higher than the Sachs.

Your choice dude. I went for the Helix option. Wanted to be safe

Mine lasted about 5k after it started slipping.

Heres what it looked like when it came out

I love my sach clutch now, it feels oem but bites like hell. I

If i was going to do it agian i would probably go for the helix setup. Its more money but you get rid of the bloody dmf which still casues me a fee vibrations when i really spank the car :thumbdwn:

must have been a really poorly type r to get beat by a fabia ;)

But ill say no more on this or ill be opening a.........................

Lol, thats a can of worms alright!

If you want a standard clutch, i have one you can have that came off of my 25k VRS.

But id recommend uprating, i got the sachs clutch and also had to replace the DMF because i drove on it with the slipping for months.

The sachs is great, havent had any problems with it, the DMF does vibrated at certain revs which is well annoying!

If i could do it again id go for the helix, but to the average joe who will buy your car in the future...this may put them off.
