Hi everyone

Just bought a 2001 Fabia 1.9tdi, just a couple of questions..

Has just passed 90k miles, what should it have had done on its previous service?

Also how regularly should I have the oil changed and when should the next service be?

Looking forward to picking it up tomorrow! :)

I'm no expert, but cambelt at 80k or 4 years is a must.

Oil change? My dealer say's 10k, my mechanic bloke says 5k

Thanks, I would be more inclined to have it changed at 5k because its a diesel, that was my initial thought so will go for that. Cannot do any harm!

In terms of a major service I imagine 1 year / every £10k?

Read through the service related posts and it was a minefield!

Well a quick glance at the servicing when I bought mine suggested odd numbers were minor services at about £110.

Even ones were biggies at about £250

Then there's 80k and the cambelt.....

My man at Skoda did say that 5k oil changes weren't a bad idea but not perhaps necessary. £50 for one of those.

Make 100% sure the correct oil is used as the TDI engine requires VW505-01 spec oil,If you look this up on this forum you will see what I mean.

10000 miles for the oil is fine that's what it's made to do in the TDI engine.

Good luck with your Skoda.icon14.gif

If you really want to be sure of having decent oil last the 10K miles, always ask for Fully synthetic it is what is used in the PD engines that have variable servicing, and is slightly more expensive, but at least you know that when it comes to the 10K oil change, the oil will not be completely dirty.
