2007 Fabia VRS mods - what to do....

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I bought in March last year a bog standard Fabia VRS in silver from telfords of Carlisle and almost immediately (around 2 weeks later) took it down to (im in Aberdeen) Star Performance for a re-map. Its now showing 177 and 293lb ft. I havnt done anything else so far but i am looking for advice from you regulars on what to do next and approximate costs - i dont want to be spending a HUGE amount of money.

Suggestions please for mechanical and cosmetic mods :)

The car has now done 20k.

2 other things -

1 - Is it normal for the clutch to judder under alot of load around 2k revs - i just drive 'around' it but i was just wondering

2 - Has anyone else has a degree of 'chugging' for 5-10 secs after starting the car from cold?

Ooooooops - two other things :o

3 - How much oil on average does yours use?

4 - Any members up my neck of the woods (Aberdeen)

Thanks guys:orb_grin:

1, its more likely to be the dual mass flywheel juddering rather than the clutch, although the clutch will get damaged as well when you boot the engine at 2k revs or below , so my advice is to rev the engine a bit more and don't boot it below about 2.3k revs

2, chugging when starting could be anything ,injectors, glow plugs, might even be something to do with the remap

3, mine doesn't use any , but i change mine every 2.5k miles , so its never in there long enough to get used :D

4, sorry i'm nowhere near Aberdeen

as for mods , Jabba rear ARB, Eibach 25mm lowering springs, 312mm Octy/Audi TT brakes are the usual favourites, there are others , do a search in the Fabia forum

Here are my answers for you mate.

1) Would agree with ric there

2)Try some electrical gel (aka the cage mod) and this will cure it might have to read the fabia section for this.

3)Don't think it uses too much oil but uses a certain amout which I can try and find out for you from my dealer for you.

4) Afraid not mate, but based in edinburgh.

Hope this is of some help.

Davy

There is a members map & list at the top of the page . I'm in Aberdeen but don't do "performance " ( I've got a chrome tailpipe trim on my roomster ! ), just drive a skoda cos I like it !

Koni FSDs and lowering springs, brake pad upgrade.

Frankly, I'd have done those before remapping.

Well, maybe you would but ive managed to do 20k fine without finding the otherside of a hedge.

Any further suggestions people? I lack imagination:)

do you have the Cupra air intake ?

I would recommend this if you have the remap. as mine is running 180 bhp & 300 lb/ft, no judder, and no sooty rear :)
