is it Worth it

FFS, stop going on the pair of you!

Different people like different cars. Personally i think the fabia is a **** car, but then I am sure lots of people disagree and don't like my choice in car either.

All those cars I listed are in the same 2nd hand price rangeas the vRS. Now please tell me why you think say a 3 year old vRS which is worth around £8k will depreciate less than a 330d 6 years old for £8k?

Or why you think a Golft GT TDI 150 for £5-6k which has climate control better seates 90ltrs bigger boot recaro front seats 6 cd multichanger std more functions on the trip computer likewise the Cupra & FR Leons why are theyworse? £5-7k for either a Leon or a Golf GT TDI150 is bang on the money a fabis in that price range has only air con and single cd player

BMWs are to over priced and their options list is Stupid, plus when things go wrong they are Very expensive. All because your paying for the BMW name - No thanks :Kick_Can_...

Golfs and Leon`s are nice but they are higher on insurance and you aint getting value for money as we get with a fabia vRS.

if your back is that bad then a vRS should be the last car on your list you will need something with proper full lumbar adjustment (not something like the crude VAG version on their non electric seats)

Have you seriously thought about this point?

In your position with your iffy back i would only be considering something with electric lumber support (ideally Recaro)

I agree with Ramdon Rich in that its a sensible car & I have managed to encourage a friend to buy one who loves it.

BUT this person only wanted a brand new car and didnt have a big budget (cash buyer) this fitted the bil, if however you take into account the 2nd hand market with VAG diesel units then its not clear cut at all. Most cars have pros and cons for a family car its not ideal i.e. 2 jkids with prams = you cannot go camping unless you have a roof box / or going away on holiday with luggage to the airport will be very difficult.

It is a good small city car and Ive driven a couple of them can be hussled on the B roads to a performance I could accept with the upside of >double the MPG Im currently getting.

Saab 95's have fantastic seats (the best in the business) you can drive 400 miles and come out fresh without any back pain.

Volvo are pretty good too.

that is why I have opted for a used vRS, Im having a Recaro Expert L as my seat with electric seat back adjustment.

only the best, or if you know of any other better seats, please PM them to me..

But do they ALL have electrically adjustable lumbar supports?

if they do then i agree they will be fine as i stated:

if they don't then they are not ideal as once you have a major back problem you NEED the fine adjustment you only get with electric adjustment (or the older air pump)

What i am pointing out is just about every manufacturer will have this option, but not on every model.

I have to say, if such a relativly minor shunt at realtivly low speeds (I assume 30mph ish) caused you such back pain then the car isn't well suited to you and I'd be looking at a different car too.

Still each to their own ;)

The Expert L IIRC has manual adjustment, which is similar to the VAG system of a cam wheel, this has very limited adjustment.

The Ergomed ES is electric (and can have a side airbag also) BUT it is twice the price.

A decent electric Recaro with subframe will come in just short of a grand

Thats why its important to see if a different spec model has them as an option.

Having suffered badly from muscle damage to my back after an accident and having to have a good amount of Physio and strong pain killers, I wouldn't hold out hope on any significant pay out.

The money I got was a sensible amount to cover costs I had incurred and a little bit on top. It was not an amount that would fund anything like a recaro seat and some toys.

I would be extremely surprised if the insurers didn't get a loss adjuster involved due to the fact that the collision speed can not have been that high due to it looking like a partly built up area and yet the situation involved having the roof cut off.

This will only serve to delay things at least initially, although if you have the LA on your side then they can speed the rest of the claim up massively.
