Cornering fog lights?

Featured Replies

I will command a new Octy 2 in 2 weeks.

I saw in an VW Eos a cornering light that iluminates when the wheel is turned and I think is very useful.

I saw that cornering fog lights are now available as an option in Octavia.

But the Skoda dealer said that is not good in Skoda, the only thing that does is light up the fog light on that side, no cornering whatsoever.

Any of you have this option? Can you explain how it works.

If it's nothing cornering I can always drive with the fog lights on...:)

Thanks.

No "adaptive light". It will simply switch on the fog light on the side of the curve... of course at speeds under 40km/h :) Like Mercedes does since few years.

The fog light have a "special" design inside, will light better that normal ones on sides. Very useful in dark parkings...

Hmm I doubt the value of this compared to the old Citroen DS style turn the headlights with the corner style of adaptive lighting.

Thanks guys.

Not a good option I see.

For 98 Euros (the price for this option in Romania for Ellegance) I will choose another option.

Anyone found out yet what's needed to add this feature to an older Octy 2?

I think someone said that it might just be a relay plus VAG com.

My mate at work has a merc, and is fed up with people telling him his fog lights are on,or faulty as there is only one on.

One of my friends has a Corsa with cornering lights. It has an extra bulb in each headlight cluster which points out to the side. I've a feeling it may do something else too (maybe the same sort of thing with the foglights)?

Seems to work well from what I saw of it.

If your new Octavia is after 07/09 build it will come with two bulbs in the fog light cluster...As standard in Europe this will have DTRL and Directional turn indicators...so you set up the two bulbs to come on in the daytime or have then working as turn lights....BUT WAIT! If you buy in the UK when the car has its PDI the code that they get from VW wipes this out for UK light set up and you then have to pay VW £20.00 to put them back as european set up.....Nightmare! Not to be confused with VRS LEDs or AFS Lights.......Totally different!

Just go the whole hog and buy a Superb with cornering fog lights and adaptive bi-xenons. Easily the best lights I have ever had on a car
