My Microphone

Featured Replies

Good Afternoon,

1 for the conputer tech people....I hope :D

I have just purchased an Acer Aspire Gemstone 7720G.248....

There is a built in Webcam that it 'optimised for video chatting' e.g. Skype.

My problem is that there is a microphone next to it and when I go to use Skype, it says that tyere is no microphone attached and then it opens up a 'sounds' box and all there is is a 'line in' icon showing?

My question is....do I need to download a driver for it to work or is there an easy way of switching it on?

It has Dolby HD Digital Sound on it, but I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it? I would assume that there is a microphone or what's the point of a webcam when all I'll be doing is miming to the other person?

Any advice appreciated, Thanks, :)

Ben

Hi are you sure it has a built in mic? I recall reading some reviews late last year where you needed an external mike or telephone attached. Just a thought as can't see it specified in here: ACER ASP 7720G.248 17" WIDESCREEN LAPTOP from Laskys

Should be a setting in windows control panel
