Losing power uphill and overtaking, fabia favorit 51 plate,

Featured Replies

I'VE AMENDED THIS ON ANOTHER THREAD BECAUSE OTHER HALF PUT SOME CAR INFO IN WRONG, SORRY ALL. READ NEW THREAD PLEASE.

Hi all,

I'm Bo from Leeds.

Hope I've got this in right place now? Thanks for advise. Sorry, am new to all this.

My problem is the car is losing power when going uphill and overtaking, is fine on the flat.

I've changed fuel filter, checked timing belt, done the redex and diesel magic and the clutch is fine.

It's been suggested that it could be the pump but i'm doubtful due to it being ok on the flat?

Have a few other things to check but would appreciate any advise.

Has anybody had a problem like this or any ideas i'd be really greatful for any help. Thanks.

What's the engine code?, ASY diesel or ATD Turbo diesel, from your post I have narrowed it down to these, obviously not a petrol and too early to be a VRS or 1.4 TD.

One area which is a known weakness are the hoses around the turbo and intercooler. These can split which can causes lack of boost under acceleration. Not sure why it would only manifest on hills, but easy enough to check to rule out a simple solution :D

Hi all, Thanks for your comments.

The car is Skoda Fabia comfort, 1.9SDI. 51 plate

The problem is losing power on uphill roads and also if I turn the engine off then back on the revs go really high for a second then back to normal.

Dont know engine code at this minute but I'll have a look if it's going to help.

Cheers! Bo.
