To be honest if its a 1.4 I wouldn't bother, either change your order or use the money you'd spend on the above to start saving for your next car

you be better off buying a unmodded 1.6 than mod a 1.4 mate.

Did they even do a 1.4?

Yes very base spec model, think its around 90bhp, not sure if its still avilable now

Um, exhaust, 'chip', and exhaust. That'll be about 95bhp then?

So high?

IMHO get a 1.6 or 1.9TDi 105.

:iagree:

But what I would say is if your determined to go down the remap, exhaust and filter route (i.e. you want to mod whatever you get) then the 1.9TDI would give the best returns (105hp to 140-50ish bhp could be obtained), with a 1.6 FSI you'd only be looking at a 10-15bhp gain I'd imagine :ne_nau:

If you want decent performance on a budget then a reasonably new mk II octy probably isn't the way to go... certainly not in 1.4 guise (didn't even know you could get such an engine - christ I bet it's slooooooow!)
