Removing Fuel

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have been running my Octavia on Bio-diesel for the last 10,000 miles now the car ain't happy with it.

I use a 50/50 mix problem being I now need to remove the fuel and re-fill will diesel but don't know how to remove the fuel.

Any help is really welcome

Can I not just disconnect a fuel pipe at the fuel filter and drain the tank from there?

My tank doesn't need to be totally emptied just remove 20 litres or so that I can and normal diesel to increase the percentage of mineral vs bio.

How about good old fashioned hose and siphoning then?

Tried that , but its got an anti-siphon bit

Take out the fuel sender unit under the rear seat and syphon it out there.

Either that or go get some millers power sport 4 and put a double dose of this in to increase lubricity and cetane of the fuel.

Run it on that and every time there is enough space to get 5/10 L of derv in then top up with mineral and a single dose of the millers.

Also you might find that the bio derv isn't the problem, but that it has taken the carp out of the fuel tank. This is now in the fuel filter and causing the car to run badly. IIRC you need to change the fuel filter a lot more often on bio-derv.

I'd change that and see how things are then.

Just changed the fuel filter two weeks ago.

Is the fuel sender unit attached to the fuel pump ? do you simply disconnect it to siphon it ?

How many miles has the car run before you started to use a bio-derv mix.

What engine is it 1.9 TDI 90/110 or is it a PD130/other PD engine?
