Octavia vRS service intervals

Featured Replies

I've owned my Octavia since it had 21,000 miles on the clock and its now on 26,000 miles. Its only been serviced once by the person who previously owned the car. I've spocken to the skoda garage and they just tell me to wait for the service light to appear on the dash. I've checked the oil and its black. In my opinion it should have been changed a long time ago.

What mileage have you's had your cars serviced at for its 2nd service??

Thanks

Andy.

When was the first service (ie mileage and time interval from new), Andy, and I assume that it is on variable servicing? Do you know what spec oil was used for the oil change and what spec have you used since if you have had to top up?

What model is it ?

Our diesel octy went to 29500 before its first service.

On the 1.8T I get the oil changed every 10000 miles regardless of whether or not it says it needs it but thats just a personal thing as the car has been "tweaked" & gets a very hard life !!

When was the car last serviced & is it stamped in the book by a Skoda dealer ?, ie do you have definative proof it was serviced & also that it is actually on variable servicing as a few are not. The dealer should be able to check this for you.

I understand the car has a sensor which monitors the quality of the oil & this is one of the main things in determining the service time so even if the oil looks poor it should be OK

We took the diesel octy in for a service at 20000 & our dealer would not service it as they said it was too early, at the time I had similar concerns to you but the dealer was right.

If you intend keeping the car a long time & are not happy then get it serviced & you will know where you stand.

this is something i've been thinking about lately as mine is coming up to 12months old (next month) but has only covered 6.5K miles or there abouts.

In the service book theres a sticker in the front cover, on this sticker it apparently tells you what service scheme (for want of a better word) your car has been setup to, according to this sticker (if i've worked it out right) mines on variable servicing, now am i right in thinking that this is the one where the car tells me when it needs doing ?

When i bought the car the saleman gave me the impressions that i could have the car serviced at 10K or 12 months, that it was my choice... now i'd personally prefer to have my car done this way, waiting for 20K or whatever to come round seems a rediculous amount of time to wait.

Any thoughts !?

I was going to post something similar up myself.

My vRS is on variable servicing and has done 21000 miles now, (in approx 8 mths), and the service light hasn't come on yet!

I do 80 motorway miles a day and it gets a 400 - 600 mile rag up and down to Scotland every 2 weeks, so it's generally doing an Av of 50 - 60 mph all the time!

What's the highest mileage that anyone's had for the 1.8T before the service light came on.

An inspection service (including an oil change) was due at 20,000 miles. Get it booked into a dealer asap and ask them to investigate why the variable service interval display failed to remind you that a service was due. NB: The service warning only appears for a few seconds in the trip counter display when you turn the ignition on, so it is possible to miss it.

 How can I be on variable service intervals then if it should have been set at a service at 20K

Because 20,000 miles or 2 years are the maximum intervals between services, whichever comes the sooner. That said, the variable service interval display may calculate that a service is due earlier based on 'your individual driving conditions and your own personal style of driving'.
