Load rating on HU feed or Ciggi Lighter

Further to the last post, do you ICE men reckon the HU feed (doubtfull) or ciggi lighter would take a upto 80W circa 5amps draw for extended periods of time (read each and every time ignition is on). Or should I really be considering running a seperate 5A fused #gauge cable through the bulkhead?

5amps should be fine, but the cigarette lighter should not be used for that long a period. I had my cool box plugged in for approx an hour and the lighter plug was getting hot. If you need a decent feed then the battery is the best place. If not from the battery then from the main feed into the fusebox. I think fag lighters are rated at approx 10amp max for internediate periods.
