hi new to the forum just bought first skoda.its an 03 plate octavia vrs done 68k. i was little dissapointed to here it requires a new cambelt (4 year interval) already, specially after also hearing its a 120k interval! is it essential to do the belt on a 4 and 1/2 year old car or not.if so what sort of job is it. i am a mechanic but have only worked on peugeots and vauxhalls. appreciate any advice thanks

Well as you are a mechanic I'm sure you will know what happens if the belt fails :confused:

Parts won't be that dear if your doing it yourself(£150)

Also think about changing the plastic water pump (For metal) at the same time!

I sort of understand your disappointment, but whoever quoted you 120K belt intervals was telling porkies!

My cambelt's due for renewal soon, dealer's quoted £700 for it and a service so don't think I'll be using them :D
