Wiring for tow bar on a Fabia

Featured Replies

Hi,

Has anyone installed wiring for towing sockets on a Fabia?

I would like some advice on the best route to take.

I know most manufactures these days provide a socket on the loom for towing, is this the case with the Fabia?

I did wonder whether the loom is multiplexed and hence I would need a dealer supplied connection accessory.

My Fab is the vRS version, but I assume the loom is not much different to any other model.

Only thing I know is that the loom to the rear lights is standard, not multiplexed. There doesn't seem to be any special connections for a trailer. Just use Skotchlocks. However there is a bulb failure warning system and on some old Volvos adding additional rear lights (i.e. for a trailer) caused the bulb failure warning to activate. Should be simple enough to check; just add a 21w test lamp into a circuit and see whether the bulb failure indicator comes on.

As an aside, if someone can tell me how to remove the rear bumper on a Fabia I'd be very grateful.

Instructions are in this document just posted in the Fabia Vrs towbar thread:
