Keyfob Fabia boot release

Featured Replies

My Fabia came with the 3-button remote key fob and one of the buttons looks like a boot release. However, when I press it nothing happens. Anyone know if this is a VAG-COM tweak to activate? Car is an '01 Elegance if that makes any difference :)

I know on the vRS you have to hold the button down for a few seconds before it opens.

On my furby if you hold the button in for a few seconds when the car is locked, the tailgate will release, allowing access to the hatch. When you close it again the alarm will reset, very useful when shopping etc.

Thanks guys - will try that! :D Next time, I'll look in the handbook before I ask a silly question and embarrass myself :o

No problems. We can all learn from posts like yours and the answers they generate. :)

The Superb is the same.

:( Be very careful that you don't drop the keys into the boot before slamming the lid!! Fortunately we had the spare key with us.

That horrible thought has already crossed my mind..a long time ago. But yes..nightmare scenario.

IMHO one of the better features on the car, along with when unlocking the car with the remote, only the drivers door opens...when it's raining, front wipers working when you select reverse the rear wiper swipes once...etc..etc...I can feel a list coming on...any others?

Disagree slightly - one wipe of the rear wiper when reversing is usually not enough; it can't be programmed to wipe more.

I can see the reasoning behind just the driver's door unlocking with one zap but it can be quite annoying when your passenger is trying to get in because you've forgotten to zap twice! It depends on how you feel about security. It's a pity that there isn't a simple switch in the car to select the alternatives. I had the locking programmed to open all the doors.

Don't forget the clever 'hidden' facility - the air con switches to re-circulation mode when in reverse to prevent exhaust fumes being sucked into the car.

Yes good point, useful to me as 99% of the time I am on my own, living in birmingham you have to be careful of *scumbags* at the lights..etc.

I didn't know about the air con though, will have a look to see if mine does it as well.

Don't know about you guys but when I'm driving along, the rear window is always clear anyway so I don't need the extra swipe when I reverse ;) Is a nice touch though :D

If it's that clever, why doesn't it do the same when you are stuck in heavy traffic? Or is it that exhaust fumes from the Fabia Vrs are far more toxic than exhaust fumes from everything else?
