Fabia 2 2007 - couple of faults

Featured Replies

I have had my Fabia for 3 months now and clocking up alot of miles.

I got dieso on friday and droped something out of the top glove box, when I put it back in I noticed the glove box was very hot. On taking out all the stuff both glove boxes were almost at a temperture of melting point. It appears the light on the 2nd glove box has never switched off! It appears that the light is ment to switch off when the hinges are shut. I have had to disconect the light assembly at present till I can get it into the garage.

I am using a little oil, well within the book specks but still was not expecting to use noticiably any oil.

not happy with the heated mirrors - no warning they are on - will not switch off automaticaly and dont work in conjunction with the heated rear window as the book states!

Yeah, I had the same problem with the glove box, but I noticed it the day after I bought the 1.9TDI level 3 Fabia. They quickly fixed it.

My car doesn't seem to use much oil, but the garage did provide me with a free oil bottle. Never had to fill the oil up yet since 1st September.

The heated mirrors don't have a warning or turn them selfs off, but it is easy to know if they are on. I've used the heated mirrors with the back window heater and they seem to work together.

thanks stu,

I can use my heated mirrors without switching on the rear heated window. They still get hot! this means if you use them in conjunction with the rear window - the rear window will time out but the mirrors will stay on permantly while ignition is on.

There seems to be a trend on here for people who follow the running in procedure in the handbook to need to top up the oil quite frequently whereas those who drive it normally (using all the rev range etc) from day one don't. Not that it really helps you, but it could explain what you're seeing :)

Hopefully you have a good dealer who will sort out the glovebox problem

Chris

The mirrors doesn't sound like a fault, mine are on all the time unless the little joystick is set to L or R.

Oil consumption is normal on a new engine, especially if its been driven really sedately from new.

Glovebox definitely needs sorting though. :)

Strange about the glove box but I am getting a new fitted next week, as the hinges are faulty and it rattles all the time. As for the heated rear windows, not aware that I have ever used them.

Most Fabias - lvl 2 and 3 - have two glove boxes. Should there be lights in each?

Thks

No, only the one in the bottom should be equipped with a light.

had a fab with this issue, seems like the switching mech fails or the switch isnt mounted properly. its a easy fix, but hard to spot unless its been burning for a while and has heated up.

im sure my heated mirrors turn off after a while. i;ll check

Do heated mirrors come as part of the Climatic A/C option? I cant seem to find them anywhere on the standard options or extra options list.

The heated mirrors come as standard on the fabia 2 and 3 with the electric mirrors. I do believe that it is not an option on the fabia 1.
