Hiya.

If the Mist Wagon was petrol engined, and the Furby doesn't better it, there's something badly wrong!

Thank you all for the warm welcome. :D

Just a couple of queries regarding the "standard" radio.

It continues scanning the frequencies even after i press the scan button to stop on a favourite channel. I think i may need to change it to a decent brand.

Cannot get used to the brakes though, take ages to slow down compared to the beemer.

Any experts who can help please.

Hello and welcome. A brake upgrade could be your answer. The vrs owners upgrade to 312mm discs. I would imagine they would fit to yours too. A search in the Fabia section should bring up the answers.

They don't fit without upgrading the outer hub housings to vRS spec, with the removeable brake carrier. :( That's why I did just that, so have gone from 256mm FSIII brakes to 4 pot 323mm brembos. :D

You also need at least 16" wheels to clear the 312mm brakes, and the 2001 TDI comes with 14" steels IIRC, or at least 14" alloys if an elegance.

Best upgrade may be some grooved discs and ds2500 pads. :)

Hello & welcome, :)

Ben

Subject to having sufficient space inside the rims, you should be able to upgrade a car with FSIIIs to 280mm discs for the price of discs, pads, and caliper brackets I think (but check; I may be wrong about the availability of the brackets).

Does anybody know how much the upgrade might roughly cost ?

Also need ideas for a decent sounding cd/cassette player with usb ports.

Thanks in advance

Thats the great thing about Briskoda, you'll always find someone has the answer your looking for. Wish I had the technical knowledge like you. I thought the TDi might have had the same hubs, proves you learn something new everyday. Oh I forget to mention the wheels. Doh.

Welcome to Briskoda :D

Welcome.

And as John said, congratulations on getting rid of the beemer :D
