installing a screen

Featured Replies

Hi peeps,

Any ideas how to mount the screen in the dash? It comes with a cage which is fine, but I've pulled out my symphony and it isn't in a cage. I can't see how the cage can sit in the space in my car?

Also, the new screen seems to stick out quite a way, is this normal??

Is the standard radio a double din?

Have you got a cubby hole still in the dash?

If so, you'll have to pull out the cubby hole and the the screen should fit in (assuming it's a double din screen.)

No, its a single din. I have a pull out drawer. I think I've sussed the fitting now, apart from it sticks out, and I'm confused about what cables I need to swap about to make it switch off when I turn off the ignition lol

should be red and yellow in most headunits.

your looking for a ignition live and perminant live to swap over.

as for it sticking out, have you got any cables stuck at the back? last time i fitted a screen i had to take the glove box out so i could pull the cables out of the way so they werent all bunched up behind the headunit.

what screen is it?

Its a warferdale/venturer. It has a nice picture :) I just want it so I can plug in my laptop for music and internet etc :)

PS, will i need a special tool to change the wires?

ive just got a touch screen for teh same reason. ive got to find a way to extend the leads though as i want to hide the latop inot the boot and use the touch screen to navigate :)

you shouldnt need a tool, if you are still refering to the red and yellow swap over. just cut the wires then use some plastic joiners and crimps to rejoin them and finish with electrical tape. best solution is to solder the connections together though
