engine noiser when clutch is depressed from a cold start

Featured Replies

hi there, just wondering if you can help me, recently from a cold start in the morning or late evening when car has been left my fabia VRS engine makes a loud knocking noise which is different to its normal engine diesel knock, the noise is only there once you put your foot on the clutch and let it idle, you take your foot off again and the engine goes back to its normal note. there is a clear difference when the clutch is put down and lifted up. you can then drive for a minute and then stop and retry and noise is completly gone? any ideas???

There is always a *slight* change in engine note with any car when you depress the clutch in idle. I thnk it's probably just more noticeable when the engine is cold.

My car is the opposite :(

I have to put my foot on the clutch to shut it up, just one of the annoyances of having an SMF, the chatter at idle - lol
