Bent Subframe?

Recommended Posts

Right boys and girls if anyone can give me an honest answer ill be greatful.

Took the car into a garage to have various work done on it including the dog bone bush done.

A while a go i hit a small parking bollard mount with the lower S3 brace, only did it at max 10mph and its bent the brace which i knew about but now ive been told that i should replace the subframe AND dog bone mount to be on the safe side so that the the bush can be replaced and that the tracking is 100%

Now i find this total BS im sure that id know if the sub frame was bent in shape or form.

Not only that ive never herd of any one having to replace a sub frame on a MKIV chassis car.

I know its hard to make a decision without seeing it but even a guess would be great.

If it helps im sure that i can some pictures of it if needs be

i could do time permitting as ive now lost confidence in the place where ive just taken it so the extra mileage to awesome could be well worth while.

I was just after a general consensus as the same garage where i found out the the brace was bent never mentioned the subframe and they are a VAG specialist like the place ive just been to

It may not be the entire subframe thats bent. It may just be the mounting points. But as you can't replace them, thats why they may have said change the entire subframe.

Yea could be i just find it strange that no other garage has mentioned that id be better replacing it or that it would be advisable when ive had other work done

It does stand to reason that if the brace has a decent bend in it then the bottom of the subframe will of been pulled together also (i am assuming the brace is bolted to, or very close to the subframe?)
