Split in front bumper

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a Fabia Estate (Elegance) which is less than 3 months old (mid Nov 2007).

A split of about 5 cms long has appeared in the front bumper in the last two days on the passenger side just below the light. It's like the "plastic" has just parted. There is NO sign of any other external damage: scraped paint, abrasion or anything like that and I have not had any sort of bump or other "accident".

The split has the appearance of a "tension" tear.

Has anyone else seen this or had it happen to their Fabia bumper?

It's going to be examined by the selling garage this afternoon - but their immediate response on the phone was "It's a crack - you've probably driven it onto a kerb and it won't be covered by warranty". Not sure how they can pre-judge the thing if they haven't seen it.

I'll reveal which garage it is after I have been there but in the meantime if anyone has had this "spontaneous failure" happen I'd be grateful to know about it.

Many thanks

James

If they dont fix it under warranty i would take it further ....

Hi

Eventually found out that someone had (very skillfully but very firmly) backed into the car causing the split and removing the grille around the light but causing no other damage or scratches. Happened in a supermarket carpark - so my gripe must be with the moronic designers of these carparks who design to cram as many cars in as possible rather than spacious parking

Also the people who feel entitled to damage other peoples cars and just drive away !
