0 - 60 acceleration octavia tdi

Featured Replies

Does anyone have an accurate measurement for a 0 - 60 sprint for an Octavia TDI 90?

I have achieved 10.5 secs, road in good order, low wind, no incline etc. The literature quotes 13 secs. How have I beaten that by so much? I don't know if the car has been modified.

Usually speeds afre measured to 62mph and the accuracy of the speedo will be out so you probably needed to carry on till 65mph, and then you have timing issues...

Even then my numbers are more in line with the higher bhp cars. How can I tell if it's been remapped?

Vag-com?

Magazine figures are taken using computerised gear which times Instant Of Movement (IOM) to speed.

I'd suspect that you're triggering the stopwatch after IOM, and possibly only timing to 55mph (real speed), and maybe beating the speedo needle with the watch off.

Reasoning being that my 110 won't run that fast 0 - 60, and a remapped 90 isn't likely to be above 120bhp, at least not without a new turbo, zorst, CAI, FMIC, and TIP. I'd hope you'd notice at least one of those!

Hello again

This is my first TDI and so am not familiar with any other 90. I have driven a collegue's 130 passat, and admit that it is faster than mine. Although it doesnt seem to be a whole lot faster.....

I have a degree in science and am familiar with measurement, although I am not sure how it is done officially. The Skoda literature lists 13.0 secs. I am not 'cheating' ! Or at least doing my best not to.

Its probably all in your head.

To Liverpool Lad, how do I do this using VAG COM?

Youll need a laptop, cable and software to tap into the engines ECU, not exactly straightforward.

Yeah I know all that. What do I look for though with VAG COM? It probably is in my head also!

I wasn't suggesting that you were cheating; just that there are several sources of error in stopwatch and speedo timing for acceleration runs. Ok?

On the other point, I'd agree that VAGCom will allow you to determine a remap (from a markedly higher than the standard 150lbft torque if nothing else).

Can I ask how you determine the torque using VAG COM?
