Evening all - help needed with aftermarket stereo fit

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I have just bought an 03 Fabia and have spent the day stuggling to fit a Sony mex-250bt finally got it in with replacement facia and it all works but as soon as the key is removed it forgets all settings and pre-sets. I am completely non technical (to put it mildly) but have I done something wrong? David

It certainly sounds like it ;)

Have you used a converter cable from the VAG wiring loom and the headunit, if I remember correctly live feed and switched feeds need swapping over. You can either pull the plug apart or buy the adapter. Search the ICE forum for the proper answer :o

Having just readup my own query I nhave read that I haveto swap thered and yellowwires on the ISO ! is that easy do they just pop out or is it more complicated?

Jam a bent paperclip either side of wire and the wire should pull out

There should be 2 bullet connectors on the HU loom. red-red & yellow-yellow swap them, red-yellow, yellow-red.

Oh and hello & welcome:thumbup:

Many thanks for advice, I have found a ready made solution on e-bay for £3.99 with the cables already altered. Just got to spend another few hours getting the thing out and then back in again. David

Hello and welcome. I found the same thing when I fitted a Sony HU in my old Fabia. I just swapped the red and yellow cables over.
