Call me a tight sod...

Featured Replies

;)... but I have just contacted my nearest Skoda dealer to ask them the price of doing a diagnostic, due to my EPC light showing, and they told me that they charge 1 hours labour - 70 odd quid!

"does it actually take an hour" I said, knowing full well that it doesn't, to which she replied "that's just what we charge".

How the hell do they get away with this?

If you have anyone near you with vag-com ;)

Where are you?

i'm in warrington ish. I've just been looking at those vag com thingies on ebay - it would probably be cheaper to buy one of those and then download the relevant file from this site to look up the fault code?

If you really need to use a VAG-COM - then its best to buy the real thing, ie a licensed copy of the s/w - I did quite few years ago. The ebay cheapies are not and never can be licensed and are very limited in what you can do with them, plus they don't come with any support.

But if you just want to read off a bunch of fault codes then an ebay cheapie is well worth a look.

£70!? hell, I will do it with a discount of 100% on that price!

(Does mean coming to Devon though :o)

I'm sure someone up your way has it.

I guess that's why they are called the 'stealers'............

Thanks for the offer mate, but Devon is just a tad too far away - might go down there for a few days in the summer - i'll give you a shout if I still haven't got around to sorting it? :o

If anybody, anywhere in the NW, does have a vag com that you'd be willing to put to use on my car I'd be more than willing to throw you the price of a drink or two. :) Or even if somebody knows of a place which doesn't want to pull your trousers down, bend you over and **** you up the proverbial?

visited a local indie VW/Audi etc etc garage today, and the guy told me he would do the diagostic for £20 - can't argue with that.
