Fabia Exhaust System - vrs

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Contemplating having a cat-back stainless system fitted to my VRS.

I want to keep the standard tail pipe design, but not have those two little holes just one large one.

I was thinking of getting it done at Prospeed in Cardiff.

Will there be any noise difference? I am aware I will gain little in the way of performance.

Been looking at exhausts for a huge amount of time now, and as good as Stainless steel exhausts are, I don't think I could go back to one.

Titanium is meant to be just as strong, and of course is loads lighter. Also, as they're thinner metals, they amplify the noise a bit more.

That's where my money has gone.

The noise on your setup will be different, but louder I'm not sure.

If you want a loud noise on a diesel you will have to remove then CAT, really improves throttle response

Wow, sounds really nice that.

Would there be any difference in getting a custom exhaust made up from an off the shelf item such as magnex?

Don't know i'm afraid :ne_nau:

The only advantages of a custom exhaust being made, is if you've upgraded the size of your turbo or not.

Off the shell exhausts are tried and tested, and work best with how your car performs as standard.

The reason I mentioned going custom, is if you've got a bigger turbo, they can customise the downpipe and bore size to suit the powerflow.

You wouldn't notice any difference in going custom over ... off the shelf, it's just your paying more for not a lot really..

If you want a custom stainless steel exhaust, the only place I've used, and will recommened is Hayward and Scott in the Basildon area. This means travelling to London.

They custom make your exhaust infront of you, but it will take over 2 days to do, so you could sleep in the car during the night and headback the following day.

Christ the journey will be worth it. With a diesel engined car, the cat back can be as big bored as you want it. They could do you a turbo back exhaust and customise it keeping your standard catalyst for around £600. Or cat back with no silencer and a back box will be around £470 including VAT. With a silencer will be £500 including VAT.

I'd rather have no silencers or back boxes... ;)

Plus you'll have to cut the standard system to get it out, as I did before, as the great makers put the exhaust on before the back axle.

Defo recommend a exhaust tho,Ive now got a full stainless (milltek cat back with a magnex de cat)

What you going for?

Hello,

I was wondering by having a stainless steel exhaust converter front-pipe, whether the catalyst inside will be knackered long before the rest shows signs of weakness/leakage.??

If the catalyst bit (only) could be replaced, and carry-on using other pieces of exhaust pipe, I could see the point. Please advise.

yeah u can fit a decat to the standard exhaust system... i believe the old magnex jobbie tied up with the OEM exhaust....
