Temp Gauge work, but....

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm sure the temp gauge on my dash is working fine, but is it really meant to make it's way up to the half way point and then stay there.. no matter what?

I can go for 3 hours up the motor way and it'll stall be stright up... I can drive for 15 min to work and it'll only ever get to stright up. I can sit in traffic jams for 15 min and it'll only get half way up.... it's a lil un nerving.. that's all!

Last summer I had the collant temp sensor changed, but this is un-related.. isn't it?

Thanks

Rob

only start worrying if it goes above the middle/normal temperature point and the cooling fan is on all the time, otherwise it is reading ok

The dash pod is programmed to have it sitting perfectly straight unless there is a problem.

At all normal operating temperatures either side of 90 it'll stay there.

I got my Fabia VRS last friday and whilst driving home on the M6 I hit some major traffic. I was creeping in 1st gear for nearlly two hours. The temp gauge went up to around three quarters, but as I got going again it dropped to dead cente and stayed there the rest of the journey. Does this then indicate a problem?

Under the circumstances, the engine could have been getting a little on the warm side. As long as your oil and coolant levels are OK, I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts to become a recurring problem. :)
