Cleaning inside of alloys

Featured Replies

Anyone bother cleaning inside of alloys.

I usually keep my alloys pretty clean but noticed

a lot of brakedust and tar buildup in the wheel well.

Not bothered in taking them off or jacking up the car,

and it seems a wheel brush just cant get everything as you

have to put it between the spokes.

I usually take the wheels off every 3-4 months to clean and regrease the bolts holding the wheels on to stop then jamming on the hub. You can actaully get to the inside of the wheel if you jack the car up and turn the front wheels full lock.

I always clean the inside of the wheel, if you do it weekly you hardly get any road dirt. I find a toothbrush - neat Zymol and a good rinse works wonders.

I took mine off to clean the insides. MC2 successfully removed 21 month's worth of ingrained brake dust etc.

I make a specific effort not to touch the inside of my wheels so they are now an even black colour. :)

I clean the insides as best I can with a toothbrush, and whatever wheel cleaner I happen to be using. Really you can only do half at a time without moving the car. I'm lazy so at any one time only half of each is clean :P But statisically I guess it averages out over time

Take em off, get some Multiclean, spray on, work in with an old washing up brush and a toothbrush for the awkward corners, rinse off. Surprisingly the thing that took longest on my wheels (and they are very old and pitted and hardly worth cleaning now) was baked on chewing gum ... yuk!

I clean the backs of my wheels at least twice a week but then i can do them with out jacking up the car or taking them off :rofl: Also clean the rear disc surrounds and kw's on the front to keep them shiny

The beauty of my new wheels :D
