Brake disc direction

Featured Replies

Well, my grooved discs and Minty X pads have arrived. Now this may seem like a really dumb a$$ question, but which direction do the grooves go  Pointing to the front (which I think seems the right way), or pointing to the rear ??

Cheers :o

they will only fit on one way so you cant get it wrong

Eh?

The groves in this picture are the wrong way, were only set up for picture, they are for my sons nissan 200sx.

grooves should point to the front mate, in "direction of rotation" :)

Thanks for the replies. Grooves pointing to the front was what I was thinking. Just needed confirmation. Following the comment about them only fitting one way, I spent a while holding them against an imaginary car, and then walking around the imaginary car and holding against the other side. After much head scratching - I came to the conclusion "Nah, that comment can't be right "

I will say though, the imaginary car was much cleaner than mine currently is :D

Cheers All

Any chance of a borrow of your imaginary car cleaning kit cos mines filthy

Oh and its definitely grooves forward :D

Bah sod you all i knew what i meant :D

Kenny i was always under the impression the the direction in your photo was the correct way (assuming passenger side with the caliper leading)????? so that as they rotate gas and dust were thrown out from the center of the disc, are they not marked i know my black diamonds were marked left and right. i'll have a look later to see which way they are fitted.

As I found out myself, the grooves go whatever way the manufacturer wants them to go. These are mine, and they are most definitely on the correct way round:

The direction of rotation is etched on the outside edge, so as long as the edges haven't started to rust, you can always whip the wheel off to check if you're still concerned...

Mine run the other way. Cant make much difference can it?
