Make sure it has the common options, - 18" zeniths, maxidot, cruise, jumbo box etc.

If it's an 06 (as mine is) then it won't have the MP3 connector or the MP3 playing stream headunit. Neither of which I am particularly bothered about.

About average mileage for an 06 I would say - mine's done nearly 18k.

You may already know but remember to check the oil on it regularly when you get it.

Before you go getting it remapped make sure it has had the recent ECU flash update.

Inner rear tyre wear is sometimes an issue.

If it was working I'd say check the common issues listing on my website but it seems to be intermittant at the moment.

What's the ECU flash update for Stu?

A bit non descriptive really. Something to do with the MIL.

So how do you know if you need it?

May I take this opportunity in welcoming you to MkII vRS ownership  You'll wonder why you hadn't you hadn't joined it sooner, especially once it's remapped ;)

Chassis Number.

When you take the car for service the dealer will do it if required. Hence if you are remapped you won't be when you get it back :D

Not a problem for me, yet.

IIRC I heard something about the engine being quieter and running smoother.

Mine was running a lot better with it :), felt quicker with an extra little kick about 5500rpm and a noticable change in note off the exhaust. Although my fuel consumption is gone to pot but a combination of having Auto climate on and E5 maxol fuel ain't helping :)

Can't imagine how annoying it would be to have a remap, then come home from having a service at the dealers for the remap to be gone!!

I'll check with my dealer whether mine needs it then when it's in this week. Mine's an 06 so is it likely to need it or is it not based on production date? What year's yours Colm?

BTW what is E5 maxol fuel?

I'd imagine most remappers will reapply the map FOC?

JKM do  Had to do it for my friend Adam, after his car was serviced.
