I've broken my window winder!!!!

Featured Replies

My Fabia has the dreaded water ingress problem at the back (Skoda should be sued for that one!)

Anyway, I tried to take one of the door cards off to fix it but had problems getting the window winder off.

Found this forum and tried to follow the advice - but I didn't really understand it all, and now I'm left with the door card still on and, worse than that, a chewed window winder that don't open/close the window anymore!!!

The wife's threatening divorce - help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

> The collar on the window winder pushes outwards (i.e. away from the winder axle) to release the handle and the collar.

What's the collar?? Push outwards??? Do you mean pull outwards???

> Theres a little ring between the actual winder, and the doorcard it should just slide to unlock the winder off

Think I can see that - but it's a ring so it don't slide off - it just goes round and round...???

I squeezed the little collar between the winder handle and the card, and then pulled in the opposite direction from the way the winder was pointing. It shouldn;t need to be forced.

Thanks for that. Any idea why the window isn't going down anymore??
