Disconnecting the MAF

Featured Replies

I have got the old surging problem with my vRS so am going to disconnect the maf to see if this could be the problem. Just had a quick look does the top bit just pull of or do you have to undo some screws?

Thanks

Nah, its just clipped on.

So not remapped yet and surging?

As far as i am aware it is not remapped. The surging is noticable in all gears apart from 1st. Going to check maf, N75 valve, clean throttle body. Got a boost gauge just need to fit it that should tell me if it is remapped or not. Just out of interest mart is your 209 bhp at the wheels? As you have a similar spec to myself.

209 bhp @ the wheels=243 bhp @the flywheel approx..I don't think so..

ok then so 209 at the flywheel? is this not quite low considering the mods? I though it would be very similar performance to yours kenny?

All depends on which rolling road you go to a lot of the time! Your issue might be affecting this though.

Mine was not rolling roaded, just vag-com tested which is at the flywheel.

My map is quite a conservative map which is gentle for the turbo/engine.I get good peak torque figures but the boost is set to drop off toward the end which is where the bhp arrives unfortunately.

Yeah maybe once you get it remapped.Hope you get your surging problem fixed, there is plenty of people that have posted on here with the same problem ,they should be able to help you.

was yours tested on a rolling road Chris?

If so i got similar bhp figures to you after i fitted my exhaust (190bhp)

Just out of interest Chris did the surging start after you fitted the blueflame?

Mine is not rolling road tested it is just an estimate with the mods that have been done. The surging was worse after the exhaust was fitted. Now it is quite a strong surging/jerking.

I suffered no surging with new exhaust and standard map.

When remapped my problem started, i have since had a theory about this. With the new exhaust the turbo pressure spools up much quicker than standard exhaust would and the n75 has trouble coping.

So the valve opens wider than normal to release the excess hence hesitation then closes quickly to get pressures back up again.

Do you have any fault codes or eml light issues using 100 cell cat? And another stupid question were the lambda probes put back in the correct holes?

How is it clipped on? Exactly which bit do you need to clip off? The bit on the front?

Thanks
