Change copy to move...

Featured Replies

In Windows XP there a way of changing the default behaviour for a left click and drag from one folder to another on the same drive so that it copies the file instead of moving it? I want this to happen without pressing any other keys or using the right click drag context menu...

Ta for any help

Quickest way to get around this would be to drag the items with the RIGHT mouse button then it will ask if you want to copy or move them!

Phil

Hold ctrl whilst dragging to COPY.

or

Hold shift whilst dragging to MOVE.

Didn't know about that.... you learn something new everyday!

Also hold shift + ctrl whilst dragging and it will create a shortcut instead.

Thanks to all the above :thumbup:but as the risk of sounding snotty  :o read all of the question!

I want to be able to simply left drag to do a copy instead of a move *by default* in Windows XP Explorer without pressing other keys/right drag.

Thought there might be a registry hack, tweak or somesuch for this....
