wish it did come with a heated windscreen through.

Well I assume Ford have a patent on it - but they've had those windscreens for years - I wonder if/when it expires which would mean other makes could start doing them?

IIRC, the patent expired in 1979 as Ford failed to pay to have it renewed.

So why hasn't every other manufacturer started spec'ing their cars with them in the last 29 years?

Cost maybe? It is certainly available on some other marques BMW, MINI, Range Rover spring to mind but I have no idea.

It could have an after market screen - they are available for the Fabia.

As for other manufacturers offering them as OEM surely it must be down to demand as well as cost.

You can get them (rally screen) but they arent cheap annoyingly, and you'd need extra relay etc to drive it.

Yeah my mate has one in his Nova.

Very very good.

They defo need to start doing them cheap.

Thanks - I didn't realise that BMW/Mini did them (although I think Land Rover are still owned by Ford so the Range Rover one isn't surprising - I imagine Jaguar would have access to them too).
