TyTn II + Tom Tom mapping.....help!!!!!

Featured Replies

It’s a bit of a long shot, but does anyone have any experience with the TyTn II moby and mapping software? I am thinking of getting Tom Tom or similar and putting it into my phone (built in GPS) the only thing is I haven’t a clue how you go about this or which Maps are best.

I assume you get a moby Tom Tom disc, stick it into you PC and somehow sync it all up with your phone via usb (I sync Contacts, Calander etc on a regular basis). Any recommendations or hints as to how to install this stuff would be gratefully received (I currently have a 1 gb stick in the phone).

There are a number of options including TomTom. Some come with a memory card containing the software rather than on a CD/DVD. You are best checking out some of the forums specific to the HTC phone you have. Google as always is your friend, but "coolsmartphone", "modaco" with appropriate URL bits would be a good start. The TyTN II shares the same software as many of its cousins.

You could also go straight to TomTom:

TomTom, portable GPS car navigation systems - TomTom NAVIGATOR 6 - Software & Maps of Western Europe on DVD

This version is on DVD and is compatible with your TyTN II. Installation should be very straightforward.

Good luck!

Thanks Mark, I never thought about being able to get stuff on memory cards. Makes sense if I can.

No problem. TomTom sell on both DVD and memory cards. DVD is cheaper though.

BTW, what happened to the new Octy you were going to get? How come you went over to the dark side?

I was looking at an X-trail at the time I was thinking of changing (great for my job and hobbies) then made the mistake of wandering into a Beemer dealer and getting a test drive in a 123D:D. thought I was strong enough to resist the temptation (it wasn’t cheap and I stretched my self a little in buying it) but, well, hey ho, I am now legally allowed to not use my indicators, at least that is what the salesman promised me.:D
