A family friend has an X 2000 Fabia Classic

The electric window on the drivers side isnt working.

I was told it made a funny noise then the window dropped halfway.

The motor has been taken out ad the window is held up with some wood and she was quoted £300 fr a replacement from a dealer.

Are these easily sourced from breakers? or wold it be easier putting a window winder in?

My Grandad has the same problem although his window is still at the sticky stage. He's worried (rightly, it seems) about the cost. I found these threads which have some info in them:

Where's Chief O'Brien or Rom when you need them?

Window regulater cable has broken., or white retaining shim thing has broken.

You can get repair kits for them, a bit of a pain to fit or buy a full new regulator.

I personally would get a brand new one.

You could get one from a brakers but you never know when the regulator cable could snap.
