turbodriven.com + BorgWarner Turbo Systems

Featured Replies

I came across this link recently which is for TurboDriven.com:

http://www.turbodriven.com/en/home/index.asp

It is for BorgWarner Turbo Systems - the manufacturer of the K03 turbos (among others). It is quite an interesting site with lots of explanations of turbo technology as well as detailed records containing the part numbers for the different turbos on loads of cars (all VAG group cars)

BorgWarner were formerly 'KKK' AFAIK

He he.......thought this was the link to something completely different, like the one they claim that the a KO3 Sport is only good for 212BHP.

the uk agent is AET Turbos in Wakefield / Leyland... as it turns out Bob Helvin at the leyland office went to school with my dad!

if you need info on a turbo these are the people to speak to....

http://www.aet-turbos.co.uk/pages/home.html

they stock K03 k04 garrett and many other turbos as well as gaskets manifolds dv wastegates etc....

That's right... there is no such thing as a K03 'Sport' - just a 180bhp K03 with an actuator which has a higher opening force (85N instead of 65N which the 'tiddlers' have)...

So if I understand correctly, according to the manufacturers, the K03 shouldn't be able to acheive more than a 'true' ;) 215bhp with remapping and a K04 shouldn't be able to acheive much more than 220bhp. In actual fact they say that upgrading from a K03 to a K04 is kind of pointless

This seems quite a surprising claim?

So to get any real power out of my Octy I guess one would have to look at installing a pretty serious turbo? The Yanks seem quite a bit ahead of us in those stakes. Reading VWVortex, they appear to like their Garrett turbos...

Anyone had any first hand experience with these?

I have a mate who works for garrett :D
