I have got a second had genuine towbar and wish to fit it.

Problem 1 wiring - seems fairly straight forward with the genuine plugs/relay but there are 2 wires i don't know what they are for, 1 is brown with a ring on the end i thought maybe a earth? the other is a long red one which is as long as the car. Does this go to a switchable power source?

problem 2 - the locking pin which holds the bar in is seized and has been sheered off. Is this pin a straight one with a lock on the end with keys or is it just a right angle pin?

Is it a 7 pin '12N' type socket?

According to the wiring diagram here brown is right-hand sidelight & red is brakelights. If that's correct, maybe it was connected to the brakelight switch?

Thanks, I think the brown is Earth as all the otherwires are in the block connectors which plug into the rear lights.

The long red wire is a stumper as it goes from the relay to possibly the dash for some kind of indication that you have a trailer on?

I don't know but help is appreciated.

Is the long red wire an ignition live for the 12S socket?

Could well be an ignition live Phil, it comes from the little relay box which came with the kit.

Could anyone confirm that the relay needs a seperate power supply or does it take it from the back light cluster?
