02 Octavia Wiper Motor

Featured Replies

Hi

just had problems with my octavia. the wipers initially started to go slow while clearing the window, then stopped mid cycle and started again, now have stopped completely, suspect motor is going/ gone fully. i have given wiper arms little persuasion during cylce and the restart, so seems like sluggish motor

can anyone advise how is best way to change the wiper motor and what tools required... HELP

It maybe the linkages in the mechanism. I'm sure there are guides somewhere on the site.

Search is your friend:)

Agreed; it's much more likely to be the spindles than the motor. The other think about that is, by the time you've cleaned the spindles you'll know how to change the motor if we're wrong.

thanks guys, had meant to reply to this earlier, anyway i investigated and found that the spindles seemd to be running fine, took off wiper arms and motor span, but as soon as u put any type of load on spindle you could see motor slowing, replaced motor and hey presto wipers working fine.... all in all about 30-60 mins to change (once i sourced replacement from local dismantler)

not being happy with that i investigated to see why motor failed, and brushes are worn away on one side..... ah the joys of living in wet and windy ireland!!! thanks guys

Jobs a good 'un
