ARB Bushes DIY?

Featured Replies

My Octavia VRS on a 53 Plate (Jan 2004) has got an annoying squeek at the front which looking on the forum seems must likely to be coming from ARB Bushes.

Is there a guide on how to replace these?

Will it be the old style ARB with the plastic sleeve that I've read about?

Thanks

I did mine at home - a few minutes per side, although I did choose to part a joint on a drop link I think. Also used a small jack to help line things back up afterwards.

So all I need to do is jack the car up! Put a second jack under to support the ARB and then remove the clamp and replace the Bush?

More "jack the car up, put it on an axle stand, and use the jack to support the suspension whilst working" I hope!

Yeah sorry should have said use an axle stand!

I used a metal bar to help wiggle things about as well. Easier to have a second pair of hands with you though.

iirc, one side was quite a bit easier than the other.

Is there a way of telling which style ARB Bush I require before taking it apart as I want to go to the dealer and order them?

If you've had the noise from the ARB for a while, you might need a new ARB also.

I had the bushes replaced on mine, and the noise returned after a couple of hours! It turned out that the bar had worn, and the only way to get rid of the noise was to replace the bar.

you could consider using 19mm i/d TT bushes and remove the plastic sleeves, run the bush direct on the bar

had an annoying 'squeak on the front end of mine as well.

as the car was still under warranty, too it to the dealer and asked them to hav a look.

when i went to collect they had told me it was the radiator rubbing against ???? i cant bloody remember, but they put a foam in between the rad and the problem...!!!

bloody main dealers will go to any lengths to save money, wish they had replaced the rad bushes as well, however, problem solved.............

no more squeaks.....!!!!
