MAF is after airbox and before rubber intake hose:)

thanks very much i will have a look

tomorrow and try and to clean it if poss

cheers

A common cause on the 16V is an EGR excessive flow code. This is often caused by a blocked EGR pipe under the throttle body which seems to contradict the excessive part of the description. I think that it describes it as excessive as the ECU winds out the EGR valve to the maximum to get the required amount of exhaust gasses into the inlet.

The first garage that you take it to will just want to renew the EGR valve at £100 or so when the first course of action should be to remove the throttle body and clean it and unblock the EGR pipe and if the fault code persists, then replace the EGR valve.

On the other hand it could be something simple like the engine coolant temperature sensor is faulty.

Get the codes read and come back to us.
