hissing sound front of engine

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've just been on a long run down the motorway & when I got home my engine management light was on. Its still driving okay & it idles okay, but when I went to look under the bonnet I heard a hissing noise coming from the front of the engine. It sounds like its coming from around the inlet manifold area.

Could anyone shed some light on this.

Cheers,

Oz.

small vacuum hose on the underside of the inlet manifold is probably perished.

exact same thing on mine. very easy diy fix.

you got vagcom? the error code will confirm it. but id put money on the hose being shot.

take the bracket off the front of the inlet manifold and have a look for the hose.

No I haven't got vagcom.

I concurr with Bodge :) had the same with mine,

I've just fixed this on mine bet the code comes up p0171 and says running lean. Its running lean as air is getting in via a split in the hose, once you get at the hose you will find a split - note i was looking staright at it and didnt see the split black pipe hides it well so have a good look.

Ive got a new pipe on order but for now have taped up with some ppe tape and its running just like new see linkys for better info
