water pump 19 sdi

Featured Replies

Advise please,It seems like vw skoda say they fit water pumps with plastic impellers, but my own opin.. and one of the local fitters say metal is better,But contacted GSF and they say theres is plastic also it is no good them saying we give 12 month warenty on pump but look at labour cost involved,so who says metal & who says plastic your thoughts please as i want to get it done at the same time as belt.

cheers

AIUI, the water pump issue only really affects 1.8T (petrol) engines, with an old version of the plastic impeller that's not supplied anymore. I seem to remember someone on here (who ought to know) saying that in his experience, he'd only seen one water pump go on a diesel, and that was after 200k. But then it's a bit of a kill-two-birds-with-one-stone thing, as if you're taking the cambelt off, you might as well do the pump too. Try to track down a metal impeller by all means, but a new-pattern plastic one should be fine as well, especially seeing how there supposedly aren't the problems with them failing that affects the 1.8T

Hope this helps!

Thanks mate,it seems, that they have updated the plastic,as i was told by AVS they said they look a bit like ceramic now,i think that may be based on a febi water pump,By the way recomend AVS just got a water flange from them for just over £12 including vat & del dealer wanted just short of £48 including vat,Hope this helps others

Keep the replye:)rs coming

cheers

Thanks, but i am planning of having the belt done so i beleave it is wise to do pump at same time, but thought about how much work that bit of plastic as to do,so thanks again for your help.

One of my mates (not a Briskie member) had an impellor strip off the shaft, but not break up like a 1.8T one does, on a TDi110.
