Making a forum not a forum

Featured Replies

Toying with a new project.

I need the functionality of a forum, but dont want the look and baggage that forums bring - so would like to camouflage it.

I'd prefer something off the shelf, and if using a forum ap quite like vbulletin (it has loads of bolt-ons that would be perfect for the project).

The project will be for suggestion, discussion, and collaboration so I'm also toying with the idea of using the wiki bolt-on (although again dont like the baggage this *could* bring).

Does anyone have any experience of using a stealth forum install on a site, or indeed some good examples?

I hope this makes sense.

hotukdeals is vbulletin based but doesnt look (on first sight) like a forum

Excellent.

Is there a central place where all the vbulletin APIs/bolt-ons are listed?

I Know a number are used here, but looking for a more definitive list

Try the vbulletin forums :)

Try the vbulletin forums :)

LOL, was hoping for something which listed them like the Mozilla firefox site (by category)

The mod forums have a heck of a lot of pages to wade through.

what about something like Community Server

I have very limited experience with it, but from what i have seen its an impressive piece of software! Infact it would probably suit briskoda down to the ground! :D
